Alex Smoke
Alex Smoke is an eclectic musician and composer with a production style drawn from a myriad of influences. The Glasgow based talent has extensively performed at international level in festivals and clubs. His abilities in multi-faceted electronic-beat-making are founded securely on a lifetime of classical training. Since an early age he received a strong musical education and excelled at cello, piano and drums. Today, his music evolves in new directions with every new project he undertakes. Among his most remarkable works stands the outstanding album, "Love Over Will", released in 2016 on R&S Records.
He recently started developing an artistic side-project under his real name, Alex Menzies, exploring psychoacoustic effects of sound, and the use of acoustic instruments in various ways. Other recent works include a yearlong fellowship with NHS Lothian, researching music's ties to healthcare and wellbeing, as well as scoring for BBC science programs and composing music for ballet, film projects or art installations.
