Maarten Vos is a Dutch cellist, composer and producer born in 1987, currently based in Berlin. Vos started playing the cello at the age of 4. During his development in music, Vos explored, in addition to classical music, an interest in minimalist, contemporary and experimental music. After finishing his bachelor in classical cello, he graduated cum laude with a Master of Music at the live Electronic department at the Amsterdam University of the Arts, combining traditional instruments with Electronica.
Vos collaborated with various disciplines in music, dance and film. A selection: he was part of a duo with multi-instrumentalist Greg Haines, played with the contemporary ensemble Asko Schönberg and worked with Alex Smoke, Julianna Barwick, Stimming, The Kyteman Orchestra and others. He composed music for the contemporary dance company Conny Janssen Danst and scored music for the Dutch film "The Waterboys" directed by Robert Jan Westdijk. In addition, he has recorded and produced albums for various artists on Deutsche Grammophon / Universal, and co-produced/co-wrote with Nicolas Godin from AIR.
Over time, Vos played at various places around the world such as MUTEK, Rewire, TransArt Italy, Funkhaus Berlin, and Lowlands, and was artist in residence at Gaudeamus in Utrecht, MONOM/Funkhaus in Berlin and Theatre de Chaillot in Paris.
